The History of SOAKOLOGY

SOAKOLOGY (adj.): the art of relaxation, the science of massage, the practice of ancient traditions of herbs and tea; a study founded by SOAKRATEAS in the early 21st century.

SOAKRATEAS was an avid traveler and student of human behavior and health. On a trek to the Isle of Avalon, he experienced the most peculiar feeling when emerging from the mist. Something about the combination of warm air, fresh water, and invigorating oxygen calmed him and made him feel more at peace than he had in years. What was it about this place? He began to search for a way to bring this degree of health and revitalization to others. Because SOAKRATEAS did not believe in writing — knowledge, after all, was a living, breathing thing — he brought along his bright and shining star student, PLAYTOE, to document his travels.

Together they journeyed to the far corners of the world. They assembled a traveler’s bag of wonders: hand-crushed herbs from China, softly scented flowers from Vietnam, detoxifying salts from the Dead Sea, and sun-warmed rooibos from South Africa. They gathered knowledge about the healing properties of water-infused herbs and tea and the varied modalities of massage (mainly foot massage – from very long travels by foot). What they discovered was a unique form of nourishment for both body and soul.

SOAKRATEAS and PLAYTOE decided to bring these discoveries back to the United States. They arranged to educate a select group of disciples in the new, holistic form of massage, nourishment, camaraderie, and revitalization. The graduates of this program became certified Soakologists: the master hands and the blenders of potions, for what is known today as the art of SOAKOLOGY.

… an extraordinary experience for an ordinary day.
